mīm studio is a Beirut-based research and practice studio exploring the threads between storytelling,
crafts and design. We often experiment with archives, weaving, maps, natural materials, and clay,
delving deeper into the narratives of the land of ‘Bilad el Sham’, its people, and their stories.
Our projects are co-created with communities, craftsmen/women, and storytellers.

The studio is led by Mayssa Kanaan, who graduated from the American University of Beirut with a BA
in Landscape Architecture, and the Royal College of Art in London with an MA in Contemporary Art Practice.

She also works as an Arts & Culture Consultant providing strategic guidance and advisory for various museums,
galleries, and cultural centers in the SWANA region.
